Movie Review- What to Expect When You’re Expecting
Movie Rating: PG 13
My Rating- 4/4 stars
I hadn’t read anything about this movie before my husband and I choose this movie from the redbox. Usually movies about people having babies makes me upset or at the very least a little teary. I thought this movie would be the same but I was wrong. This movie made me feel so good. I almost cried tears of joy. I believe this movie opens up the discussion of different problems with fertility.
Each expecting mother had different trials. One woman got pregnant during a one night stand and later lost it. One woman got pregnant after 2 years of trying and had a horrible pregnancy experience. One woman decided to pursue adoption after failed IVF’s. One woman had an easy and breezy pregnancy with twins. One woman was a fitness trainer, who had to take it easy because of her pregnancy,
The movie also addressed the dads. It showed the struggle and happiness they go through.
Another thing I liked about the movie was how all the characters were intertwined. I love movies like that.
The movie was overall very good and very TTC friendly. It made me feel normal. Everyone’s path to parenthood is not the same. This movie made it seem like all paths are special and it is ok. You are still a woman.
The movie was also not overly sexual. No sex scenes, no nudity. There were some slight feminine references such as one of the ladies feeling her breasts because they were tender. There was some language but it didn’t overwhelm the movie. One a scale of 1-5, with 1 being awful for the family and 5 five being wonderful for the family, I would rate it a 3.5.
