I am training for the color run!!! It’s a fun run so this would be a good run for a beginner or a experienced runner.
My suggestions for training for a 5K are set weekly goals and do them!

Make sure your goals are realistic for you. If you haven’t run in years don’t set your goals to run a mile in seven minutes your first day.

Great apps out there for beginners like couch to 5K. Couch to 5K can be used in the gym or outside. This is a nine week plan. It will set your goals for you so you don’t overdo it.There is also Nike plus or RunKeeper, they will keep track of your runs and map them. These are good if you are running outside. It is easy to get discouraged if you can’t meet your goals but just push yourself to do your best. if you are a runner set your goals to push yourself to do your best and to challenge yourself each run.

Are you running to lose weight?
You should do sprint intervals. If you do the same each day you will plateau. When you see this happening you need to switch up your work out. This is why interval training is the best for weight-loss, keep your body guessing.
If you still look cute at the end of your workout you didn’t do enough, but if you feel amazing and look like crap you did it right!!! Keep in mind your only competition is yourself from the run before not the person next to you at the gym, also a bad run is better than not running at all! So get off your butt and get moving!!
