A big thanks to Mousekatools and Love our Disney for hosting Thoughtful Thursday Blog Hop!
Sometimes Disney movie quotes are so profound. I re-watched the Fox and the Hound last week. I was dreading this movie in the line up because I know how sad this movie is. You watch two little friends grow together and then because of nature, they get torn apart. I know in the end Copper protects Tod from being killed, but they still are the fox and the hound. This got me thinking of Big Mama’s talk with Tod after he made a promise of forever friendship with Copper. Big Mama said, “forever is a long, long time and time has a way of changing things”. Time does has a way of changing things. Ecclesiastes 3:1 says, “There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens”. I think that applies to friendships too. Some friends are lifelong friends, and I believe some friends are just there for a season. Tod needed a friend in Copper at that point. I have many friends that were there for a season, and now because of life we are not as close. Distance, lack of time, and many other factors make the friendships hard to maintain. I believe friendships take work, and if both people can’t commit, it makes a weak friendship. The love never leaves a friendship though. I am thankful for all my past friends and so thankful for all my new friends. They each have a place in my heart. When I was in Girl Scouts, we sang a song that went “make new friends, but keep the old, one is silver and the other gold”. I am glad I have a good assortment of silver and gold, even if life happens. I also want to give a shout up to Heaven for Jeanette, a best friend for life, that was taken way too early from me. I can’t wait until I see you in heaven again.
