Shopping on Amazon is so easy and convenient. I love that you can get something with 2-day shipping. They usually have the lowest price for an item and you can read lots of buyer reviews on a product, which are a great help to me. Here are my top Amazon Shopping tips to save on everything you need and want.
Amazon Shopping Tips
Check out Today’s Deals. These deals only last a couple of hours or until the product is sold out. During the Christmas season, some deals are so hot they last only a few minutes before they are sold out.
Get Amazon Prime. If you do happen to purchase quite often on Amazon, you can sign up for Amazon Prime. You can start with a FREE Trial. Amazon Prime gives you the benefits of FREE two-day shipping, unlimited Prime Instant Video, and access to the Kindle Owners’ Lending Library.
Here are some ways to save on the cost of Amazon Prime:
- Share the Amazon Prime Membership with members of your family. You can share the the membership with your spouse or kids by visiting the Amazon Household page and inviting household members to share your account. In total, Amazon Household can include up to six members in total.
- Use the Free Trial. Not looking to add Amazon video and only want to use the membership for a little bit of time, like over the holiday season? Use the free 30 Day trial, make sure to cancel before you are billed.
Get FREE Shipping with Amazon Student or Amazon Family. If you have an .edu email address, Amazon Student gives you six months free of Amazon Prime. With Amazon Family you will get 20% off on diapers and baby food, plus baby registry rewards.
Buy used. Look to see if am item you want to purchase is available from a private seller. Just look for the link that says “# used and new for sale” and click on it to see what’s available. I especially loved this during my college days. Who wants to buy a new textbook anyways.
Cut Cable with Amazon Prime. I haven’t had cable in quite a few years. It is so expensive! With Amazon Prime, I get access to Prime Video. I also got a Firestick so I can access other free TV services like Pluto TV, local news stations, and Disney Now. You can layaway the Firestick on Amazon for just $6 or $7 a month for 5 or so months. I really enjoy the Firestick.
Sign up for tailor-made savings. I get email alerts about things I am interested in and when they are on sale. Select the categories you shop most often to be notified of special deals and discounts.
Use Coupons on Amazon. Amazon has a whole section devoted to coupons you can use to save on everything from groceries, movies, electronics, and more.
Sign up for the Amazon Subscribe & Save program. Simply select items you buy regularly — anything from diapers to paper towels to office supplies — and Amazon will deliver them automatically AND give you 15% off. You get to choose how often the items are delivered and you can change or cancel deliveries at any time. Sometimes this is cheaper than the grocery stores, plus you have the convenience of not having to leave your home.
Use Amazon Gift Cards. Programs such as Swagbucks let you earn free gift cards for filling out surveys and using their search browser. If you have loose change you can also get gift cards from a CoinStar machine.
Get the item you want for the lowest price. You may know Amazon changes their prices frequently, sometimes daily. The best way to get the lowest price? Add items to your shopping cart in the “save for later” section and check back often. A yellow box at the top of the page will alert you to any price changes.
