Mixbook Review | Character Autograph Book Idea

Thank you for sharing!

Disclosure: I received a complimentary gift card to complete this Mixbook review. No other compensation was received. All opinions are my own.

Have you ever seen someone do something at Walt Disney World and think that is such a cool idea? Well, last Thanksgiving I was at Hollywood & Vine having dinner and I saw someone getting a photo book signed. I had never seen that before and thought that it was really neat. Then I discovered Mixbook and their Disney-inspired designs had me hooked!Mixbook Review

I chose to make a hardcover Mixbook with the “A Magical Adventure” theme. The theme is premade but I kept only a few pages the same as the theme. You can customize each page with different backgrounds, stickers, and photo sizes. The customization possibilities are really endless. I decided to make my MixBook landscape, 11″ x 8.5″, with a soft matte cover. MixBook offers a wide range of sizes, including a small pocket one perfect for kids!

How to Make a Mixbook

I thought the process was quite easy but wanted to give you a few tips and tricks that I picked up when I was making my book.

Pick a Theme

Mixbook has over 350 themes you can choose from! You can find the “A Magical Adventure” theme under the travel section. You can also choose to start a blank book but having a starting point helped me keep the book cohesive.

Import Pictures

Hopefully, you purchased Memory Maker and have lots of Disney pictures that you have saved to your computer. Mixbook allows to you upload pictures from your computer or import them from Instagram, Facebook, Google Photos, Flickr, Photobucket, or SmugMug. It is best to upload original pictures from the computer since social networks compress the photo for storage and it does not look the best. A warning sign will appear over the photo if there will be an image quality problem. I imported quite a few pictures from Facebook and only had the size be an issue a couple times.

Plan Layouts

This part is the hardest for me. Mixbook doesn’t make it hard, I do. I can never make up my mind on how to do a layout. Thank goodness MixBook has layout options within the theme and then also within the designer tool! You get to pick whether a page has one photo or many, symmetrical photos, or tossed together. You can choose backgrounds based on colors and they also have suggested backgrounds for you to choose from.

You can edit pictures, add borders, stickers, and your own text. You can even upload your own stickers and backgrounds. If you have any questions or problems along the way, there is a chat box in the lower left-hand corner of the design tool. Honestly, the tool is so well laid out I did not need further assistance.

Review and Order

Once you have completed your book, review your MixBook and then order. I chose budget shipping and it still arrived rather quickly (about 5 days ahead of estimated arrival). They keep you informed as to when they are printing your book and when your book gets shipped out.

My Mixbook Review

I am in love with my MixBook. The book was easy to design and had infinite design options. The shipping was faster than expected. The quality of the book once received was great. The MixBook pages are heavy and smooth. The pictures printed nicely and look exactly like I made it in the designer tool.

Overall, I am really pleased with MixBook and will use them again to make another book!

Mixbook Coupon Code

One of the best things about  Mixbook is that they usually have awesome deals and coupons for you to use! Check out the MixBook Deals page to see the current deals and coupons to save money!

When I sat down and compared the cost of making a Mixbook compared to making a traditional non-digital scrapbook, the MixBook is actually cheaper especially when Disney inspired designs are included. With traditional scrapbooking, you are paying for the scrapbook, each background, the photo printing, sticker packs, and all the tools. MixBook will not replace all my scrapbooking needs but will be added to the ways I preserve my memories in the future.

MixBook Character Autograph Book Idea

If you have visited Disney before, make a MixBook. Then take your MixBook on your return visit and have the characters you see again sign it. It gives a great touch to the book that you will have forever! For new characters, have them sign the blank pages in the front and back.

The reactions you get from the characters while they are signing your MixBook are amazing! Goofy was so surprised to see his picture. Elsa wanted to know about all my adventures so we went through the whole book together. It was such a magical moment. One of my favorite things to get autographed by the characters.

I had the characters sign with permanent markers and the autographs did not bleed through to the other pages because of the heavy quality of the paper.
