I’m so excited! On January 26, 2014 in Clearwater, Florida I’ll be running my first color run. I have gone to boring 5K’s in the past. this one sounds like it’s going to be a blast! My husband is running this race with me.
Have you ever been to a color run? Participation in The Color Run has exploded since its debut last year with more than 2 million “likes” on Facebook and more than 7 million views on YouTube. The Color Run has recently been featured on ESPN, Runner’s World, Sports Illustrated and Wall Street Journal, to name a few. With no winners or official times, The Color Run celebrates healthiness, happiness, and individuality, bringing the community together to create a five-kilometer canvas of colorful fun in which thousands of participants are doused from head to toe in different colors at each kilometer. “We call The Color Run the ‘happiest 5K on the planet’ because our events bring together friends and family in a unique, healthy, and fun environment,” said Travis Snyder, founder of The Color Run. “Our only rules are that people wear white and prepare to be covered in color at the finish!”“Color Runners,” as they are called, vary in demographics and reasons for running. With no winners or official times, The Color Run caters to anyone – first time runners to professional athletes. Over 60 percent of Color Runners are first-time 5k runners and participate as a celebration and capstone of their healthy living accomplishments.
Guess what? After the 5k the fun continues, with an unforgettable Finish Festival. This larger than life party is equipped with music, dancing and massive color throws, which create millions of vivid color combinations.

I am preparing for this race, I invite you follow me as I get ready for the color run. I have only done two other 5k’s and they were put on by schools so they were just little ones. With those races I never trained I just went out and ran the best I could. Something always got in the way of training. So this would be the first I would train for. I will be updating my progress about once a week! Hope to see you there!
