Get Wild at Weeki Wachee

Thank you for sharing!

This post is part 3 of my Weeki Wachee visit. Be sure to check out part 1 about Weeki Wachee’s Mermaids and part 2 about Buccaneer Bayweeki-wachee-wildWeeki Wachee is so much more than Mermaid shows and Buccaneer Bay. Weeki Wachee is a great place to learn all about Florida wildlife. I am a transported Floridian. I am originally from Michigan, so I don’t recognize all of the Florida wildlife. I learned quite a bit during my day at Weeki Wachee. Even my husband, a Florida native, learned something new! All of the wildlife shows and the riverboat ride are included in the price of admission!

They have a wildlife show where someone brings out Florida wildlife. The show is in a newly built building and it looks like there will be animals “on display” soon. At the end of the show you can pet the baby gator and ask the park ranger any questions you would like. The show is very informative and I learned a lot. If you are a homeschooler in the Tampa Bay area I would definitely make it a point to visit Weeki Wachee for the animal shows.

During the river boat ride you have a chance to see birds, gators, and fish. The water is crystal clear so you don’t miss a thing. The river boat captain is a wealth of information as he explains to you your surroundings. I do wish they would have more than one boat running at a time.
