Following an acclaimed sold-out tour of the United Kingdom, Cameron Mackintosh’s spectacular new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s phenomenal musical success, The Phantom of the Opera, has come to Tampa as part of a brand new North American Tour. Check the Phantom of the Opera website for the next stop on the tour so you can experience this amazing show! The Phantom of the Opera will continue to play at the Straz center until January 4th.
I was so excited to be able to have the chance to see Andrew Lloyd Weber’s Phantom of the Opera! I had never seen it before and had this on my bucket list of plays I want to see. I did not research the play before hand or listened to the soundtrack. I wanted the whole experience to be new and fresh. In the end, I was not disappointed!

My husband and I got to the Straz early and walked around and looked at some of the beautiful Christmas decor. The Straz was dressed up so pretty for the holiday season. Part of me wished I could have arrived earlier to check out the ice skating at Curtis Hixon Park.
The music of the Phantom of the Opera is amazing and the cast and orchestra did an excellent job. The music burns right into your soul. You feel the Phantom’s pain and love for Christine. You feel his love for music. You feel his anguish because of his disfigured face. The way the Phantom’s voice is behind you is really surreal and brings the musical to another whole level. The vocals are amazing! My favorite scenes would have to be the masquerade ball and the final Phantom scene. His heartbreak and Christine’s kindness just blew me away.
What did you think about the Cameron Mackintosh’s new production of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Phantom of the Opera?
Phantom of the Opera is always one of my favorites!
I haven’t seen this version yet, but it looks good!
I haven’t seen this yet. It has been so long since I’ve had a night out!
I still have yet to see Phantom on Broadway…my friend did the other day and said it was incredible!
I think I would love the live production. We go to NYC in May so Broadway is on the list. I’m not sure if 13 yo daughter and hubby will agree to this one. I can try though.
I’ve seen Phantom of The Opera a few times, once on Broadway, and loved it every time! It’s such a powerful love story!
we saw phantom a few years ago in NYC and it was great.
I’ve been to a lot of plays/musicals and this is by far my favorite. The music is beautiful!
My nine year old daughter LOVES Phantom – listens to the soundtrack every night as she goes to sleep. We took her to see Phantom at the Orpheum in Memphis back in October – same tour, I believe – and it was INCREDIBLE!!
So fun! It was my 5th time seeing the show! 🙂
