Epcot's International Food & Wine Festival Review

First, I’m glad we chose not to bring our son to this event because in my opinion the majority of people there were wasted! We saw way to many people who were slurring their words,  stumbling, swaying and just acting like fools. Yes, you get some great smells of food but the main thing we smelled was beer!Yuck!
My husband and I tried a couple of the food carts and for the most part were pleased with them. Here is a run down of what we had and how much it cost and our opinion on them.

Our first stop was Scotland to try the Seared Scottish Salmon with cauliflower puree, watercress and malt vinaigrette price $ 4.50.
It was so yummy! The portions are not huge but that’s to be expected for events like this. The only part of the dish I didn’t enjoy was the watercress but I was able to move it to the side and continue eating. I hope they offer this somewhere on property after the festival because I would love to have it again and often!epcot-food-and-wine-festival-2013-food

Our next stop was Hawaii where my husband tried the Kalua pork slider with sweet and sour Dole pineapple chutney and spicy mayonanaise for $3.50 each again not large portions here.  I’m not sure it was even big enough to really share.20131102_122700-1 My husband was not impressed by this item the meat was just ok, not great and with the wait and price he would not get it again. It looked and smelled yummy but was lacking in flavor.

Our next stop was Greece to try the Griddled Greek Cheese with pistachios and honey at $3.50 each.20131102_123857-1
Trust me when I say this: IT FREAKED ME OUT but to my surprise was absolutely amazing! It all worked together and balanced each other very nicely. My husband enjoyed it so much I let him finish it off as this dish was big enough to share. we would get this item again.

Our next stop was Ireland to try the Lobster and Seafood Fisherman’s pie at $6.25 each (very small bowl)20131102_125859-1
I was expecting a pot pie type dish but it was more like a shepard’s pie with a lobster bisque with mashed potatoes on top. It was very yummy and had a great flavor and a little kick of heat, good portion of lobster,scallops,green onions and shrimp. I would buy this again if offered somewhere in Disney.

Our last stop was China to try the Chicken Potstickers for $4.00.20131102_151539-1 You receive 2 with a sweet and sour type sauce with a bit of a kick. My husband did not care for the sauce.

We enjoyed our trip to the Food & Wine at Epcot except for all the clearly intoxicated people who scared me most on our walk to our vehicle who than proceeded to get behind the wheel to leave. I truly think they should have some sort of band system so every time you buy a drink after so many you are cut off for the day because clearly some don’t know when to stop.

This is my personal opinion, but I don’t think I will partake in this festival again for this reason, I would rather spend the money on a nice sit down restaurant instead of small portions of food. I enjoyed my date day with my husband! Well I hope you enjoyed my post, till next time!

I agree with you, Dawn. I think there should be some sort of system so the park can be enjoyed by all. The hard part would be trying to figure out what is the right amount since people get affected by alcohol differently.
