Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2014
My husband and I enjoyed a day at the Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2014 this past weekend. We set a budget of $50 for the day. After we got a Disney Gift Card at Target for $47.50 using our Target Red Card, we were set. We looked at the Menu and decided based on the prices we could each have 5 choices. Then we would sample each other’s dish so we could try 10 items. By the end of the day though, we ran out of time to choose 10 things. So now we have money left on our gift card for another Disney time, only about $7, but that at least buys a mickey bar. 🙂
We started with Canada and worked our way backwards through the World Showcase. We also did not get any wine or beer since we were driving home that night. We are wanting to try some of the wines, my husband wants to try some of the beers; but we are waiting until we can get a room on property so we are not responsible for transportation. Please remember to be safe when, and if you choose to partake in alcohol. I am happy to report that we didn’t witness any lewd, stupid behavior. Last year, Dawn reported not being pleased with the behavior of some of the people drinking.
Most of these foods are eligible for the Disney Dining Plan using snack credits.
Food: Kimchi dog with spicy mustard sauce
Country: South Korea
My Thoughts: The Kimchi dog has a little spicy kick to it. For me the slaw over powered the taste of the Kimchi dog. Make sure you have a drink nearby. I didn’t and was trying to find a fountain real quick!
Food: Grilled Lamb Chop with Mint Pesto and Potato Crunchies
Price: $6.25 (the most expensive thing I tasted)
My Thoughts: So delicious! I would definitely want to have this again. Meat that just melts in your mouth. It is a bit salty though.
Food: Kefta Packet
Description: Ground seasoned beef in a pita pocket
My Thoughts: Not my favorite thing in the world. I thought the beef was a little flavorless. We wished afterwards we would of chosen something different.
Food: Croissant Doughnut
Country: located at the Refreshment Port
Description: Fried croissant covered with cinnamon sugar.
My Thoughts: Heaven on earth. It was so nice! Very flaky and sweet and not too greasy. I realized this was the only dessert we tried. I wish would would of had time to try more desserts. They all looked so good!
Food: Moqueca de Pescado
Description: Regal Springs Fresh Tilapia featuring Coconut Lime Sauce and Steamed Rice
My Thoughts: This was one of my favorite dishes and I am not even a seafood person.
Food: Canadian Cheddar Cheese Soup
My Thoughts: This soup is amazing and a must try!
Description: Pasta gratin with ham and cheese, contains onions
My Thoughts: I thought it was ok, but not the highlight of the day.
Food: Roast bratwurst in a pretzel roll
My Thoughts: The bun was good, The brat is just your normal brat. I think I was expecting something spectacular and it turned out normal.
Food: Kielbasa and potato pierogi with caramelized onions and sour cream
My Thoughts: One of my favorite dishes for the day. Very tasty, but that could also be because I am a HUGE fan of pierogies.
