DIY Minnie Ears Headband Holder

Thank you for sharing!

My Disney Vacation Planner, Nikki, got me addicted to Minnie Ear Headbands. That created a storage problem. My solution is an easy, cheap to make DIY Minnie Ears Headband Holder. I went from having one to having quite a few especially when I found out that they sometimes end up at the Disney Parks outlet store.

I am huge into Disney bounding and know ears can play a big part in pulling together a bound. You can read more about Disney Bounding here. While all the ones I have so far are bought from Disney, I am going to get into making my own very soon.

While I found several solutions on Etsy, I did not want to spend the money on something I could probably make myself. I found a couple DIY’s online but they were displays that were set on a dresser or table and I wanted a DIY Ears Wall Display.

How to Make a Minnie Ears Headband Holder

What do you need to make a Minnie Ears Headband Holder?

Instructions:

  • Using a utility knife or sharp scissors cut 4 strips of cardboard. I made each strip about 2 inches wide and about 30 inches long. Honestly, I wasn’t too worried if the strips weren’t perfect since they were being covered with fabric.
  • Cut one piece of cardboard for the top. Mine is about 4 inches tall and 24 inches wide.
  • Use the tape to join 2 strips into one. This will make it a bit more sturdy since we are just using cardboard.
  • Cut out enough material to cover the 2 legs of the holder and the top.
  • Using a glue gun, wrap the material around the cardboard strips attaching with glue.
  • Once step 5 is dry, attach the 2 legs to the back of the top. Cut 2 pieces of ribbon about 2 inches long each. Make a loop with the ribbon and attach one to each side of the back of the top.
  • Since the hooks I got were a bit wider than the cardboard strips, I cut the strip backing to not overhang.
  • Attach hooks to strips, I placed 8 hooks mine and spaced mine out about 8-9 inches.
  • Hang up and display your ears for all to see!
