This is part 2 of my Weeki Wachee day. Please check out part 1 where I talk about the Weeki Wachee Mermaids!
I love to swim. My husband and I are like fish when it comes to water. In Florida, swimming is a must. It gets so hot here. One thing I don’t always like is the temperature of the water. By June it feels as if you are swimming in bath water. Not very refreshing or cooling. Buccaneer Bay at Weeki Wachee is the best place to go swimming if you want to cool down. Buccaneer Bay is Florida’s only spring fed water park. The water is always 74 degrees no matter what time of year it is. The water is crystal clear and wonderful!!
You have the choice of three water slides to choose from. You can only see two in the picture though. My husband went down the curvy slide and the fast slide. The fast slide is set up side by side so you if you have someone to race with, you can. The water starts off shallow , but the deepest part is 17 feet. In the deep area they have a dock you can climb up on and dive or jump off. That was my husband’s favorite thing to do. My favorite thing was just relaxing in the cool water.
They have a kiddie area too! I did not peek into much because I don’t have kids but, here is what the website states:
Lil’ Mates Caribbean Cove (Kiddie Pool) is an area reserved for kids 6 years of age and younger. A water play area that the kids will enjoy and where Mom and Dad can relax as one of our trained lifeguards supervise.
The best part is that Buccaneer Bay is included in the price of admission to Weeki Wachee State Park! You can rent tubes as well and tube down the river.
Single Tube: $8
Double Tube: $12
Triple Tube: $15
You can bring food, coolers, and your own tubing stuff as well. My husband and I were at the park from 9:30 until 5. We started swimming around 2 and closed out the park. We didn’t even eat and left our lunch in the car because we were having so much fun.
If you are looking for a cool place to swim, I definitely recommend Weeki Wachee’s Buccaneer Bay! Find out more information at http://www.weekiwachee.com/.
