Citricos Review | Is it Worth the Money?

Thank you for sharing!

If you are looking for a romantic, elegant dinner at Walt Disney World then Citricos might be a great dining option for you! My husband and I celebrated our 12th anniversary this past week and decided to go to Citricos to celebrate. We had never been there before but have some friends that rave about the location often so we decided to try it out. This Citricos review includes a review of the location, atmosphere, and of course the food! I also cover whether I think Citricos is worth the money.

Citricos is located inside of the Grand Floridian Resort at Walt Disney World. The Grand Floridian Resort is very grand like that name reveals. Elegant, Victorian style buildings with a live jazz band and piano player in the lobby during the day. In my opinion, it is the most romantic resort on property. Disney must agree with me because they have a Wedding Pavillion at the resort. Citricos is on the second floor and is in the same hallway as Victoria & Albert’s. Citricos at the Grand Floridian

Citricos Review

Citricos can be difficult to get into at times, but we were able to get an 8 PM dinner reservation the morning of. We checked in and were seated rather quickly.

The view is not spectacular compared to deluxe resort dining locations. You do not have a view of the Magic Kingdom or even their fireworks. On a little bit of a sad note, you can hear the fireworks. We were seated near a window and looking out at the Grand Floridian and one of their pools is pretty though.

*Tip* If you are looking for a dining location with Magic Kingdom firework viewing, try O’hanas or The California Grill.

Citricos is a beautiful restaurant! It oozes with romantic atmosphere with the white linen tablecloths and napkins, Old-World furnishings, and views of the oak-flamed grill.  Disney Citricos Dining Room

Citrico’s Food Review

We started off with a complimentary toast of champagne to start off our anniversary celebration. Since we were driving home we decided no other alcohol was necessary and the wine list was a bit pricier than we could afford so we just drank water with our meal.

We started off with the Seasonal Flatbread. Menu description is Parmesan, Fennel Sausage, Kale, Caramelized Onion, Roasted Fennel, Herb and Garlic Crema. The sausage had a mild peppery taste that sweet onions and herb and garlic cream sauce complimented very well. The flatbread was crisp on the outside and nice and soft on the inside.Disney World Citricos Flatbread

For our main course, I selected the Oak Grilled Beef Filet. The menu description is Potato Purée, Dragon Carrots, Cipollini Jam, Bordelaise. This is a filet mignon that was very decadent and delicious. This dish was actually quite important to me. Due to some childhood traumatic experiences, I have an aversion to beef. I can eat ground beef but pretty much avoid everything else. I wanted to get past that and wanted my first steak to be from Disney. I order it medium and it melted in my mouth, so smooth and flavorful! Now my only problem is that I now may be Disney steak spoiled, lol. Grand Floridian Citricos Oak Grilled Beef Filet Review

My husband ordered the wild caught halibut. The menu description is Saffron Jasmine Rice, Clams, Calico Scallops, Chorizo Vinaigrette. The fish was tender and flaky and did not have a fish smell, I know because I stole a bite. He loved his dish a lot.

We also ordered some delicious Brussel sprouts. The Brussel sprouts are flash fried and then drizzled with a balsamic glaze. I am not a huge fan of Brussel sprouts but my husband who is. loved these!

We finished the meal with dessert. There were so many options that sounded amazing but we finally decided to share the lemon scented cheesecake with a blanket of White Chocolate Ganache. It also has a piece of waffled salted caramel. Since it was our anniversary Citricos also added a whipped cream accent with a chocolate Happy Anniversary card and a candle!

Is Citricos Worth the Money?

In my opinion, yes! If you are looking to celebrate a special occasion this is one place I would recommend. If you are just having a regular dinner, I would say go to a less expensive location. It was romantic even without the view of the Magic Kingdom. Between here and California Grill, I would still choose California Grill first just because of the view of the castle. The food is pretty much equal in taste and quality.
