Cigna Amazing Race | The Race to a Healthier Me

Thank you for sharing!

For those of you that have followed my blog for awhile, you know that when I attended the Cigna Blogger Marathon Weekend Event last year I was encouraged to sign up for my first runDisney race which will be next month. I was excited to be invited again and had a blast! This time we completed Cigna’s Amazing Race at Disney’s Hollywood Studios! We had so much fun running around and completing challenges that encouraged a healthy lifestyle.

Cigna Amazing Race

The event coordinators set up our race just like the Amazing Race TV Show. We had detours, interactions, and roadblocks! I was on Team Daisy again this year, but unlike last year my team did not win.

Cigna Amazing Race Challenges

The first clue we decoded told us we needed to do a Rockette kick line with another group. Getting fit doesn’t have to be boring and getting together with friends makes it even better.

After that fun quest, we ventured into Hollywood Studios and started completing more clues. Check out the pictures of my team having some healthy, awesome fun!

Here is a video of all the fun everybody had during the Cigna Amazing Race.

Race to a Healthier You

Let’s be real for a moment. I am not a health and fitness blogger. My blog’s name doesn’t have runner, race, or healthy in the name. I am far from perfect. I am not a runner in the sense where I can run a full marathon or even a full minute. What am I then? Why should you listen to me? Listen to me because I started.

Becoming a healthier you is a race. Just like someone running a marathon or a 10k like me, there are going to be times where you want to give up. You will fall, you will have pains, you will need support, and friends for the course. The question is, did you sign up for the race for a healthier you? Are you taking the first steps?

Cigna sponsors the Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend because they are passionate about people running towards a healthier life.

Numbers are important during a race. How long is the race? How fast are you going? How much further until a potty or water break? Do you know your numbers in your race for a healthier life? The numbers you want to know are your cholesterol, blood pressure,  blood sugar, and BMI. Will you join me in getting great numbers, one step at a time?

Fueling your body for a race is important. Becoming a healthier you requires you to fuel your body and mind with the right food choices. The first step is knowledge.  Find a healthy lifestyle that you can live with. First steps can include adding more veggies to your diet, cutting out sugar filled drinks, dining out less, or just being conscious of what you are eating.

Join Me in the Race to a Healthier You

My hope is that will join me in my quest for a healthier life. Want to follow my journey to my Princess 10k, check out the Pixie Dusted Fans Facebook Group where I will be sharing my race day pictures and other training tips!

What are you doing to build a healthier you? Have you ever participated in a runDisney race? Let me know in the comments!

Disclaimer: I was invited to attend the Cigna Blogger event in exchange for promotion of Cigna and Disney’s Marathon Weekend. All opinions are my own.

What a fun way to encourage folks to work toward healthy living. By doing what you CAN do, you find yourself being able to do more as you gain momentum and see the changes.

This sounds like so much fun. I love the idea of the clues. Getting started is hard. Continuing to make the changes is even harder. You are taking steps and that is what matters. I know I have to do that all day every day. Good luck at your race.

I am slowly making changes like making sure to drink my water intake, eat smaller meals, and exercise at least 4 times a week

April I commend you for taking that first step and getting started. I think for me, that's half the battle! Seeing how far I have to go can be discouraging, but knowing that just getting started and taking one step at a time toward healthy choices is inspiring. Thank you for this post! :)
