[no_toc]One of the most underrated characters in Alice in Wonderland is the Cheshire Cat. He is so cool and a fun type of creepy. Disney’s Alice in Wonderland provides so many important lessons, but I gleaned a lot just from this quirky, weird cat!
Cheshire Cat Life Lessons
Be Proud of Who You Are
Like all members of Wonderland, the Cheshire Cat is mad, but unlike the others, he admits it with pride. The Cheshire cat was proud to be who he is. I think we can learn a lesson in that. We aren’t perfect. We are all a little off in one way or another. Instead of hiding our imperfections from society- be real and admit your shortcomings, fears, and problems. You might just find out you are not alone!
The Cheshire Cat has a permanent smile on his face. Things might be going bad but he is still smiling. I can’t guess what is making him smile all the time, but I can smile all the time because my life is filled with so many blessings, family, friends, and happy moments.
The Cheshire Cat gives Alice direction. Do you help others? Even though he couldn’t help Alice, he sent her in the direction of the Mad Hatter and March Hare and then, later on, sends her to the Queen of Hearts to help her get home. I know he causes trouble with the Queen later on but all cats create mischief. Do you help anyone? Are you paying it forward?
Make a Little Mischief
Speaking of mischief, that is another reason the Cheshire Cat is my favorite cat. He causes mischief. Do you cause mischief? I don’t mean illegal trouble, but do you start tickle wars with your loved ones? Pull April Fool’s jokes? It keeps life fun and keeps us young!
Stand Out a Little
The Cheshire Cat is purple and pink. I used to be obsessed with purple and pink. Most Disney cats are normal colors. Even other animals in Alice in Wonderland were normal colors. The Cheshire Cat stands out!! Do you stand out any? Have your own style, your own personality, and your own take on things.
Have you seen Alice Through the Looking Glass? Even though the Cheshire Cat is blue and grey, he is still a great character and it is a wonderful movie!
So, who is your favorite Disney cat?
