Disclosure: I received a pair of OOFOS Race Recovery Shoes to help facilitate this post. All opinions are my own.
Before signing up for the Princess 10K, anything to do with running, racing, and jogging did not interest me. When I get into something, I get fully immersed and learning about the science behind running has me intrigued. Just like any sport, running has their own equipment. I thought I just needed tennis shoes. I was SO wrong, lol. You need a lot more than that or you will get injuries pretty fast. I want to share my experience with OOFOS Race Recovery Shoes!
What are Race Recovery Shoes?
A second pair of shoes for running? Yup! After a long walk, jog, or run your feet need a break. Race recovery shoes are just what they sound like. They help you recover from a race. I am still in my training but after my long walk/runs on the weekend, my legs and body feel tired. Your body gets stressed from the work requested. Race recovery shoes take away some of that stress alongside a good race recovery routine. Check out Fit Disney’s Mom Tips for Recovering After a Race!
Do OOFOS really help race recovery? According to Runner’s World writer Bryan, “I slipped into a pair of slides from Oofos, which makes recovery sandals with a proprietary foam that it claims absorbs 37 percent more shock than traditional midsole foam. Between that luxurious feel underfoot and the extraordinary arch support, the Oofos recovery sandals offered instant relief for aching knees and ankles.”
If it is good enough for Runner’s World, it is good enough for me. My husband will have these waiting for me at the finish line. I can’t wait to slip into them after crossing the Princess finish line!
OOFOS Race Recovery Shoes
The OOFOS brand is pretty much the leader in race recovery shoes. Their shoes are different from their competitors because of their revolutionary OOfoam. According to the OOFOS website, “Athletic shoe foams are designed to “rebound” and propel you forward. Revolutionary OOfoam does the opposite, absorbing 37% more shock with every step than traditional footwear foam.”
One thing I love about my OOFOS is the way the shoe supports my arches. Great arch support allows your feet to move in a natural motion and takes pressure off of ankles, knees, hips, hips, and your lower back. Even though OOFOS look like flip-flops, they are not! Regular flip-flops provide little to no support at all.
This is my second pair of OOFOS I have owned, I am in love with them even before I started running. These shoes are great for a day at Disney. A day at Disney can have you walking miles and these shoes help take all the pressure off of your body.
When I got my first pair of OOFOS, colors and styles were very limited. Now they have lots of colors and a few different styles. This time I picked purple ones because I am bounding as Ariel for the Princess 10k. (Related Post: Disneybounding: My Latest Obsession)
